I had the sheer pleasure of photographing S & T's wedding this weekend. The wedding was on the Starship Yacht in Tampa. My first Yacht ride....it was so much fun! T, you were absolutely stunning! Well after a rain postponement on Saturday, we were blessed with a beautiful day on Sunday allowing us to squeeze in the great "S" family portraits just before Grandma and Grandpa headed back home! Well I did it! I made it through my very first solo wedding. I have to thank "L" from the bottom of my heart for trusting in my abilities and for taking a leap of faith to hire a rookie photographer to photograph her beautiful wedding. The Importance of a Father

So this picture was a total fluke. It was moment I caught a glimps of while I was photographing the brothers. I just love it. It's so symbolic....Daddy walking his little girl down the road of life. Before the birth of my second child, I taught middle school. During these 10 years I witnessed the pain of the children that didn't have a Father figure in their lives. Dads are so important and this Daddy loves his little girl like no other!

Re-Shoot

Tonight we did the re-shoot for the "M" family. They were the family that was eaten up by the sand fleas during a session a few weeks ago. The weather was PERFECT tonight. Being that it was a Monday night there were very few people at our location and we just had a blast. Here are a few from tonight. I finally got to do my tug-of-war shot! Something Different

Before going out to a shoot, I always saturate my mind with ideas of what I want to do. One of the shots I wanted to get for the "M" family was of the family playing tug-of-war (I bought the rope and everything!). But, the sun set too quickly for that shot. However, I also had this silhouette shot in mind before the shoot. I'm really pleased with the way it turned out. It's something different at least. I was so excited about this shot that I stayed up until 1:00am to edit it!

Sometimes Things Just Don't Go as Planned!

Tonight's photo shoot was one of those where you think to yourself could anything ELSE go wrong. What troopers the "M" family was tonight. Our location of choice was rained out so we decided to just drive away from the rain to another location about 30 minutes away. After a LONG drive for the "M" family we finally arrived to the backup location only to find out that it had been raining at this location as well. We decided to go ahead with the shoot anyhow only to be eaten up by sand fleas and to sit on a bunch of sand spurs. It was also nice and hot and sticky from the previous rain. You can clearly see in the children's faces that it just WAS NOT much FUN! As much as hate to say this "J" it looks like we might need to schedule a re-shoot :-(

Wedding Practice...The Details

Some of the most important pictures in wedding photography are the detail shots. In preparation for my up-coming weddings, I've decided to start practicing for the detail shots. This image is of one of the favors that we gave out at our own wedding. My husband went golfing the morning of our wedding and he wanted a "guy" favor at our tables and so we gave out a TON of these golf tees!
I'm not sure that I'd ever photograph something like this at an actual wedding, but I thought it made a really cute "flower" girl picture. Original at least!

Obviously one of the important detail pictures from the day is the shot of the rings. I decided to practice on my own ring today. I'm not so sure about the colors in the shot but I really, really like the lines and the sharp focus on the ring.

Breast Cancer Awareness

The wonderful, passionate, and strong woman pictured here has had two bouts of breast cancer resulting in a double mastectomy. She will be starting her chemo treatment soon. It's so funny how I feel like I really get to know so well the children that I photograph as I'm editing photos from their sessions. As I edit, I check every feature (especially the eyes) to make sure that everything is sharp and in focus. This little guy has the most beutiful blue eyes AND SO MANY expressions! I had the chance to practice a little wedding photography yesterday at Ashley and Ryan's wedding. I made a lot of mistakes, but learned a lot. Thank you Ashley soo much for letting me practice! Ashley looked soooo pretty in her gown and all in all the day was spectacular! There were quite a few hitches along the way, but Ashley and Ryan are now husband and wife! All of their guests had such a wonderful time. It was one of those weddings that you will NEVER forget!
